RENT 20th Anniversary Tour! *UPDATE 2/24/16*

Last month in honor of the twentieth anniversary, original cast members of the Broadway rock opera RENT reunited at the first annual Broadway-Con, a convention that celebrates all things Broadway.   Speculation was flying around that there would be a major announcement as to whether or not RENT would return to Broadway in April for the 20th anniversary or if this mini reunion was all the fans were going to get.  Just a few days after the close of Broadway-Con it was announced that RENT would be heading out on tour at the end of 2016 in honor of the 20th anniversary.  Original musical director Michael Grief has returned to once again take charge of all aspects of the show that will be getting a slight makeover as this is being billed as a re-imagining. Below you can find a list of all the current upcoming tour dates.  There has been no official casting announcements however the auditions for the brand new tour just concluded on February 16th, 2016.   You can follow the links to the individual theatres Facebook pages to find URLs to their websites and ticketing information as it becomes available.

RENT is the story of seven artists living in New York City in the 1980's during the aids epidemic. The rock opera RENT is an update of Puccini's La Boheme and was written by the late, forever talented Jonathan Larson and was originally produced at the New York Theatre Workshop.  In 2005 a RENT film was produced and directed by Christopher Columbus and the original Broadway production closed in 2007.  Make sure to check back as more tour dates and casting information will be announced soon.
